Website Launch and New Blog

My New Website and New Blog www.SilverliningsOriginals.biz www.SilverliningsOriginals.biz/blog I have finally chosen a new place to start the second part of my journey in sewing. I am now part of the Wix family. Blogger has been so good to me and it's hard to say goodbye.  I won't completely disable this blog because I know I still have frequent visitors. I have grown and changed and with that my content has changed. Since starting this blog a lot of things have happened on my sewing journey.  I am now running a small business that seems to be getting busier and busier everyday.  With that a new website and new blog had to be started. I hope you continue to follow my journey on the new website and blog.  You should also subscribe to be privy to exclusive content.

What's new and possibly moving my blog shortly

I haven't posted anything on this blog in over a year.  So many things have happen to me since I lasted posted!  My business has been growing steady. Would I like it to be growing faster than it is...yes, but all in due time I guess.  Since I have been concentrating on my business I haven't had time to post because I am always at the sewing machine.  Instagram has also been the new form of blogging for me.  It has been much easier to take a picture of an item I have sold or am selling, write a description and go from there. Not to say that I haven't missed writing on my blog.  Just in today's world with everything being a photo snap away, that is what it has come down to lately. I have been considering moving my blog to WordPress. I am also looking into Google Sites. I have been wanting an actual website that I can post my items and or services on, but at the same time have a blog if I want.  I don't want to lose all the posts that I have ...

DIY--New Look 6122--View C

DIY   - Halter Maxi Dress -  New Look  6122 View C I haven't posted in awhile!! I have been sooo busy lately with trying to work at my first job and run my home business.  I wanted to share this summer dress that I made for myself and for a Boutique Store. I'm using my iPhone to do this post so hopefully it comes out as nice as if I was to do this on my computer at home. I will admit...New Look patterns and I are not really good friends. I normally have a little trouble with them compared to other patterns. I don't know why that is, it just is. I decided to give this a try anyway! I bought this fabric when I attended the Sewing and Quilting Expo in Massachusetts this past April 2015. I look forward to that trip every year!! It was purchased from the Vogue Fabrics vendor. I purchased 8 yards of this beautiful stretch fabric at $4.99 a yard! I knew I was going to be making more than one. I did not take as many pictures during the sewing ...

How to Clean a Filthy Iron

How to Clean a Filthy Iron!! This is what my iron looked like after many interfacing needed projects. When it was time to iron garments, there was no way I was putting this on the fabric! I decided to go to the store and see what I could find to clean the iron instead of buying a new one. I found this in the household section of Walmart for less than 2 bucks.  I know there are a lot of people out there that try to find alternatives to cleaning in homes without using chemicals. But they way I see it, if my grandma did these things and she living past 91 it won't kill me either! LOL I grabbed an old white washcloth that no one uses. One capsule is all you need to clean the iron one time. Make sure you dump all the water out of your iron so the steam is not in use. Rub the iron over and over the spot. Even getting the sides of the iron that you have no idea how cakes on guck gets on the edges. You can wipe the excess off on other corners of th...

February Budget - Just Made It or did I Break it??

February Budget 'Cuse My French I broke the bloody hell out of the bank!! It has taken me a few extra weeks to get my budget post up for February because I knew I busted the bank wide open...I just wasn't ready to share yet! LOL I couldn't really be mad at myself though.  Even though I have set myself to stay on budget, some things just can't be helped. As every knows sewing IS an EXPENSIVE career or hobby in my case.  It is also an investment.  So with that said I will show you how I busted the month of February, but it was a one time purchase! February 4, 2015 Walmart: Pack of Sharp Sewing Needles = $1.27 February 6, 2015 Joann Fabrics: (7) McCalls Patterns = $13.93 (1) Simplicity Pattern = $3.99 (1) Vogue Pattern = $4.99 3 yd of Knit Fabric = $10.77 3 yd of Knit Fabric = $8.98 (2) Spools of Thread = $4.27 2 ¼  Cheetah Print Fleece = $17.04 February 9, 2015 Walmart: Serger = $190.53 February 13, 2015 Wa...

New Year -- Gonna Jump On It -- Blogging Again

I'm not gonna say that I have a million resolutions because I know myself....they will eventually one by one be broken.  My goal for this year is to try and blog once a week with the busy work and family life I have been living.  I had this notion that I had to blog every day and that my blog would only be about sewing.  Yes...sewing and showcasing my work was a big part of the reason why I wanted to start the blog in the first place, but I am realizing that there is so much more to "blog" about.  As I have said in my previous post it's not about making money or trying to become famous. It's about being me and sharing the things that I love and love to do.  In the header of my blog it says:  " My journey as a beginner in the sewing and blogging community. The failures, the triumphs and the in between!!! " I have to remind myself that I can blog about the in  between  and not let so much time go in between posts.   I do...

Whole Month of June Flew By...Without a post

Hello Blogger World, I have been MIA for an entire month.  I thought about my blog almost everyday, but could not get a minute to open my laptop and jot down a few thoughts or say what I have been up too.  After my grandfather passed at the end of May it has been non-stop.  I will work backwards through the last month. My daughter was selected for an all-star softball team and made it all the way to the championship game (which was yesterday) and the lost by 3!!! The team and the parents were devastated because we watched these girls work so hard an train for a month!! I ordered some swimwear fabric from across the country.  I was so excited to get I waited all week for it, just to have it stolen from my mail-room 5 min after it was dropped off. Long story short..I know who did it, I threatened them with my softball bat, case number given from police, made every call possible to store, FedEx, landlord, they were evicted, and I had the fabric reshipped to m...

The Life Struggles......Sorry I have been away!

Hi Everyone, Sorry I have been away for sometime now.  My life has become very busy as of late and I have not had the time to actually blog.  Not to say that I have not thought about the blog or to see what is going on in the blogging world, just have not been able to get to it. 1) Around this time of year between both my children they have three sports going on that literally take up Monday thru Saturday between practices and games! My daughter came in 2nd place in the Home Derby and also hit her first home run in a game this season.  My son is in t-ball and he is doing pretty well learning the concept of the game we know as Baseball! 2) The hospital seems to be extremely busy this time of the year, so I have been working a lot more and training on a new computer software that the hospital is using now.  Electronic Medical Record here our department comes!! 3) I have been dealing with 2 deaths in my family that were really close to each other in time...
