January Budget -Just Made It or did I Break it??

January Budget I Made It!! At the beginning of this new year I decided that I was going to put myself on a sewing budget. You can read that blog post (HERE) .  I had come to the realization that I was spending a good amount of money on my sewing hobby. I would say half of the time it was being spent on things I needed and the other half of the time it was on things that I didn't really need at the time and my eyes were just too big! In my personal opinion putting myself on the budget and making myself stick to it helped out a lot.  I was surprised at the amount of self control that I have when I put my mind to it. It forced me to work out of my stash and actually look at the notions that I already have and not buy anymore. Here is what I bought for the month of January with the total and money saved staying on a $100 budget. (It helps when you buy on sale!!) Stephanie Goes to New York --Part 2-- Meets Mimi G of MimiGStyle.com

Hello fellow bloggers!! So I said in my last post I was going to post my sole reason for going to New York this past weekend.  It was to meet my sewing IDOL Mimi "Mimi G" Goodwin . She had posted for a few weeks that she was coming to New York to sign her patterns that she has just released with Simplicity.  I was so excited about this because I have wanted to meet her for over a year! I wasn't able to go to her annual conference this summer, so I jumped with the opportunity to meet her when I saw her post she was going to be in my neck of the woods.  The meet and greet was held at the Brooklyn Craft Company in New York.                       I was one of the first to get there because I was so excited, but at the same time didn't want to be standing in line a block away because I knew how many people would be there.  While waiting in line I met some amazing women.  One in particular I can say is m...

DIY -- McCall's Pattern M5400

DIY -- McCall's Pattern M5400 View E & H At the end of this post....pics of me wearing the finished suit on the beach!!  This bathing suit was inspired after watching a YouTube Tutorial done by Mimi G.  I'm always looking for a bathing suit that helps cover my "Mommy Tummy" as well as still trying to look "cool" on the beach with my kids. When I saw that I could make it by following the easy directions but also go to the tutorial if need be for help....I was all in!!! The two yards of swimwear fabric were ordered from Michael Levine . The first is called Modern Plaid -Purple  and the second is called Italian Swimwear solid in Lipstick Pink . Working on the bottoms for the bathing suit I added 3 inches to make it a high-waist.  Instead of having just a lining for the crotch area, it was a good idea to make the inside of the whole bottom a lining...it gives extra support like a pair of Spanx.  I did the sam...
