Open for Business!! Legit Business Women!!

It is time to play a little catch up!!!  I will hopefully be able to spread my posts out over the the next few days or weeks.  I have sooo much to share!  I think it is better and easier for me to post to my blog from my iPhone.  I seem to have the phone to more accessible than the computer now a days. The first piece of news that I would like to share is that as of April 2015 I am now a legal LLC!! My registered name in the State of Connecticut is of course...Silverlinings Originals LLC!! Yay for me!! It is now hanging on my wall above my work station. I have been doing business out of my home as well as two store locations.  Everything I am doing is pretty new still and I am learning as I go, but I am super excited about this new journey I am on!! Soooo.....since I am my own boss (even though I am still working at the hospital as well...can't quit my day job just yet) I needed to have a more functional and appealing work space. I am very OC...

DIY -- Sweatsuit -- New Look 6142

DIY --Sweatsuit -- New Look 6142 This project was a long time in the making. I bought pattern in the spring of last year with the thought of making a warm sweatsuit this winter.  I purchased this fabric of course from Joann Fabrics on Black Friday! I was on another blog one day and after reading the blogger say there was no stretch I was a little bummed. I didn't realize even after I bought it was there was no stretch to it, but I still wanted to make this outfit anyway and I wasn't letting that stop me. I have no idea what happened to my borders for the other pics...they just disappeared. The fabric I chose for the top and bottom was a sweatshirt fleece in a hot pink and black.  I love patterns that don't have many pieces to cut! I didn't take many pictures of sewing the sweat jacket. I did have to take up in the sleeve cap and adjust the shoulders.  Because this is unisex there will have to be some adjustments made for a more petit...

Starting My New Year Sewing Budget

New Year Sewing Budget So again, I really didn't plan on having any resolutions because I would have a hard time keeping them.  I know last year a lot of people participated in the Sewing Diet in which they did not buy any unnecessary RTW (ready to wear) clothing and either sewed or upcycled their clothing. That challenge didn't do much for me because I only shop about a few times a year and not for expensive things.  I have some jeans, shirts, sweaters and scrubs that I have been wearing for 6+ years and still look good and in style.  What I did notice last year is that I spent lots of $$$$$$$ on fabric and tools of the trade.  Like any hobby it can get a little pricey just with fabric alone!!  Now in my defense for last year, I spent a lot of money basically for start up.  Having to buy a new reliable sewing machine that can grow with me as I hone my sewing skills can break the bank itself let alone buy all the supplies that you need. (Pa...

DIY -- Jean Dress -- Burda Young 7225

DIY - Jean Dress - Burda Young 7225  View B Hey fellow blogging world. I couldn't wait to post this dress I made because I was so proud of it when I finally finished.  It did take me all day b/c I was doing things around the house at the same time. Sundays are always busy at home, but I was determined to get this dress made.  I was dreaming about it!! I have to really get my daughter to take closer pictures! LOL  What am I going to do when school starts, my photographer will be in the 5th grade! I will be honest, I love patterns that do not have many pieces to cut out.  As much as I love cutting patterns and fabric...I don't want to be cutting just the pattern for 45 minutes! The fabric I used is a stretch jean material.  I purchased it from Walmart a few months ago with this pattern in mind. I don't know exactly the percentage of stretch anymore because I bought it so long ago.  I remember wanting it to get over my curve...

We Are The CHAMPIONS!! Women's Softball!!

We Are The Champions!!! Team Pic Third Rail Cafe & Pub Final Score 16-5 August 6, 2014 Hey fellow bloggers!! I am so many things....and now I am a softball champion in the women's B-league division. How I have time to do all the things I do between full-time work, my kids and their sports, and sewing...and I did play softball every Wednesday night.  The team we played (Chicago Sam's) beat us last year in the championship and this year we were going for the juggler.  We have a love hate relationship with this team and revenge was over due!! From left to right: My cousin Megan, me and my cousin Ashley Its funny how they are younger than me 3-4 yrs and I am the smallest :( LOL Isn't she beautiful!!! She was well deserved!! Lots of blood (literally from sliding into bases), sweat (hot days and nights) and tears (from the days we lost and the days we won).  I am so proud of my team, my softball family!! I'm thinking of ret...

DIY -- Beach Wrap

DIY --  Beach Wrap Hello fellow bloggers!!  I decided to try something different and make a beach wrap pattern from a bath wrap I had in my closet, but after I had already bought the fabric (that I didn't know what I wanted to do with it yet when I bought it). LOL I was in Joann Fabrics a few days ago to buy specific fabric for a project that I knew I was going to be making in the next few days....when I came across this mesh performance fabric . I don't honestly can't remember buying it...even if it was a few days ago.  This habit is a disease I tell yeah!  I found this in the back of my closet. My mother bought this for me when I was 17 I think soooo its been there for about 13 years now.  I drafted a pattern from it.  Something free hand and quick.  I didn't want this to be an all day sewing project.  Just a little 2-hour project to use my machine. Put it on the fabric and started cutting.  I think that is ...

New sewing Machine -- Brother SQ9185 Computerized Sewing and Quilting Machine

After much internet research, price comparison, and nerves....I decided to by myself a new sewing machine. I decided I was going to say its a 3mth early birthday present to myself!! I work hard enough I deserve it!! There is nothing wrong with my other Brother machine, I just wanted a machine that I can grow with as I learn more and do more! So I figure this was a good enough upgrade in my opinion! Does anyone have this machine? Is there anything I should know or pointers you have on it? I would love to hear everything and anything about it. Still scared to take it out the box! Lol Until Next Time! ✌️ Stephanie
