DIY   - Tunic -   Simplicity 2255 View A I haven't posted in awhile because I have been working on some business ventures as of late.  Two opportunities have been brought to the table for me and I have decided to jump on them.  I will be sharing more on this in a later post.  Most of my posts are always about firsts.  That may still be because in my eyes I am still a beginner (novice) sewer.  I got up the courage to try my first button up shirt. I have had the pattern for a while but was very intimidated by it.  The shirting fabric I decided to use was purchased at Mood in NYC when I was there in September. So I did my best with the trying to cut all the patterns out to line up with each other in the end. I think I did pretty well. DIY -- Simplicity Pattern 1367 -- View A (Jo-Ann Fabric Pattern # S0563) I finally got around to using the fabric that I purchase from fabric.com a few months ago. I liked it so much when I saw it, I just bought 2 yards without really having an idea in mind.  If you are a follower of my blog you probably saw this fabric in my fabric haul 3 posting. The fabric is Kaufman Laguna Stretch Jersey Knit Chevron Emerald .   I love when you only have to cut a few pieces instead of 10-12!!  I bought just enough to do this project.  I think at first I did want to make a maxi dress.  Because I didn't have a pattern to go off of when I purchased it, that idea was scraped really quick.  That's what happens with impulse buys on your lunch break at work.  This was a quick and easy sew.  Just sew up the side seams leaving how ever many inches you want for your side slit un-sewn.  I had in my stash left over black spande...

DIY - Teal and Gray Circle Scrub Top What I Wore Today  This fabric was purchased at my local Joann Fabrics . It is part of there Easy Care and Wash Collection its called Circle and Lines . It is 40% Polyester and 60% Cotton. I used Wrights Extra Wide Double Fold Bias Tape  and matching thread.  So I will be honest.....since I started sewing I have been OBSESSED with making scrub tops for myself. The reason being its 50% easy to make, and 50% fun to pick out what materials and designs that you like. I buy 2 yards of fabric for everything I do. Because if I mess up I have more. DIY - Hello Kitty Scrub Top What I Wore Today  Fabric from Joann Fabrics  I'm not sure if you can buy this particular print online, but I did see it in a few of their retail stores.  I used Wrights Extra Wide Double Fold Bias Tape accent the pockets and around the top.  If you haven't read my About Me page yet, I state that I work full-time in the medical field.  I don't have to wear scrubs all the time, but when I want to be comfortable it's my go to option!!  I was tired of seeing the same scrub tops I was wearing that day on other co-workers in the hospital and smiling at each other because we didn't know what else to say.
