Here for the first time!

This is my first ever blog post!  I am super excited about this because I have a million things that I want to share and discuss.  There is not enough hours in the day so I am going to have to spread it out. Even if it takes a week to get to what happened last week...I will get to it until I am caught up with daily events.

First off....my name is Stephanie.  I have decided to start a Blog as a sort of diary of my journey with sewing and the in between(s) of my life...not every detail but you get what I'm saying.

I have been sewing on and off for a few years but just recently in the last 6 months have I started to take it seriously.  Seriously enough that I toss and turn at night with ideas or projects that I want to keep working on, but at the same time I need sleep.  I do work a full-time job and co-parent 2 beautiful kids (more on them another time) which eats up a lot of time also.  I just keep telling myself if I want to keep buying fabric the money has to come from somewhere.

I am hoping that as I continue to document my journey as a hopeful seamstress....in the long run I will start to see my progress improve with trial, error and corrections.  I am sure there will be a lot of frustration, anger and happiness along the way.  I will document both through words and images of my journey.

I am super excited to get started and I hope you will come along for the ride with me!!

Until next time!!

Stephanie

DIY -- Hello Kitty Scrub Top -- OOTD

DIY - Hello Kitty Scrub Top What I Wore Today  Fabric from Joann Fabrics  I'm not sure if you can buy this particular print online, but I did see it in a few of their retail stores.  I used Wrights Extra Wide Double Fold Bias Tape accent the pockets and around the top.  If you haven't read my About Me page yet, I state that I work full-time in the medical field.  I don't have to wear scrubs all the time, but when I want to be comfortable it's my go to option!!  I was tired of seeing the same scrub tops I was wearing that day on other co-workers in the hospital and smiling at each other because we didn't know what else to say. I felt like I was in People Magazine on the "Who Wore It Better" page. So I decided to start making my own tops!!  This is the 2nd scrub top that I have ever made.  The first one I made ended up being a complete bust (My Failure) and I never took a pic of it.  I definitely learned for my mistakes (My Triumph) and

Scrub - A - Dub Sunday!! DIY - Scrub Tops

DIY - Scrub Sunday!! I buckled down and add four more scrub tops to my work wardrobe.  I did this really for two reasons. 1) I like how easy and fast it is for me at this moment, very calming and non-stressful sewing! 2) I enjoy the compliments I get from my co-worker for having original scrub tops! If you have not read my Fabric Haul 2 post, please check it out.  There you will find a description of all the fabric I used for these scrub tops.   Fabric Haul 2 My son decided that he wanted to draw all over my pocket template. To learn more about the Ideal Seam Guide that I use while sewing, check out my   Tool I Can't Live Without Post It seemed easier for me to just cut all the fabric out and just sew everything at once. The only thing that was time consuming on these scrubs was changing the thread to match the color of the bias tape being used. The finished products!! So happy!! Can't wait to wear

Website Launch and New Blog

My New Website and New Blog www.SilverliningsOriginals.biz www.SilverliningsOriginals.biz/blog I have finally chosen a new place to start the second part of my journey in sewing. I am now part of the Wix family. Blogger has been so good to me and it's hard to say goodbye.  I won't completely disable this blog because I know I still have frequent visitors. I have grown and changed and with that my content has changed. Since starting this blog a lot of things have happened on my sewing journey.  I am now running a small business that seems to be getting busier and busier everyday.  With that a new website and new blog had to be started. I hope you continue to follow my journey on the new website and blog.  You should also subscribe to be privy to exclusive content.
